bought a bottle of Maipe Malbec 2008.  Wine Advocate rated 90 pts. 






dark violet/purple in color.  good legs.  jammy fruits and a bit of acid on the nose.  big, blackberry flavors with some tannins.  nice, long finish.  good with chocolate brownies (what we were eating at the time).

Oooh. I'm not terribly wine-savvy, but I do love it and have the feeling you'll make me want to drink it a bit more often with posts like these.

Oh I didn't use to be wine-savvy either. But since working for a Wine & Spirits distributor and taking their Wine Essentials class I find that I enjoy the rituals and little nuances of wine so much more now!

I have been craving a good red wine lately. My liquor cabinet is so sad and empty! Would you recommend this one? I'm not wine-savvy at all, I just wander around and buy whichever bottle catches my eye and has a price I can afford!

Most definitely! It's a great value as well at $12 and would go well with a hearty red sauce pasta or rich chocolate :)
